Author Journey: July 28, 2023 - Nothing Like Winning

Welcome to the scenic route! I'm so glad you joined me here today because I have great news to share with you. Well, it's great news to me. I also have a three-word prompt ready for creative souls in need of a little inspiration. Let's get to it, shall we?

Author Journey: Nothing Like a Massive Win

There's nothing like blowing your writing goal out of the water to get you fired up to continue. I'm so encouraged about Surge right now. I've been editing like a mad fiend for the past two or three days. And I've got the goal line evidence to prove it.

The awesome thing is that I'm enjoying the story as much as I ever did when I've read over it. I think I have another winner, but I guess time will tell.

In other news, I'm going to try uploading the new cover for Ripples today. I can't wait to get that new, better, more fitting cover out to my readers. I wonder if it automatically updates on apps or if readers have to manually update the changes. Do any of you know? Maybe you'd be kind enough to share your knowledge in the comments. I hope so!

Writer's Life: Mysterious Happenings & More

I know I've asked for prayer for my mom. They're still not sure what's going on with her health. She's going for another test today. I hope this one actually shows up something that can be fixed with some simple adjustments. Please keep praying for her and for all of us as we stand with her.

We got Spartacus a new toy. He absolutely loves anything he can bat around the floor, but he goes nuts for strings and tassels. I've got a video, but it's not ready to share yet. This picture will have to do.

For the first time in a long time, he curled up right next to me last night, like in my side, while we sat on the couch. He used to sit in my lap all the time. He won't do it now. And while he will sit next to me, he's usually not right up on my side. It was a nice change. I actually prefer him at my side, rather than on my lap.

Just Keep Writing: Friday Fascicles

If this is your first time participating in this kind of writing exercise, you're in for a treat. If you've done this with me before, just keep scrolling for the prompt.

Rules:

  1. You can use any/all of the words and/or the photo in the prompt below to create a unique written work. Fiction or nonfiction, poetry or prose, even lyrics are acceptable.
  2. Please keep the material you write clean (i.e. nothing R-rated or worse) if you wish to share the link to your work here, as well as if you link back to my site. I strive to keep my site free of such things. My readers know and expect this. I respect your right to write whatever you feel you need to write. And you're free to use my prompts. But if your material is graphic, I'd rather not view it, and most of my readers will not wish to.
  3. Have fun! This type of exercise is perfect for growing in the writing craft, or for helping through a rough patch in your current WIP. If you're looking to push your author limits and you normally write in nonfiction prose, try a whimsical collection of lyrics. If you normally write poems about real life events, try your hand at a fanfic. Give yourself some room to explore.

Don't forget to leave a link to your creation (unless you're writing graphic material) so my readers and I can check out your work. I'd appreciate a link back to this post to help me reach more readers, but it's not required.

Oh, now this is a set I could do a lot with. What about you? Are ideas pinging around in your imagination yet?

Thank you so much for stopping by today. It's encouraging when people want to see how you're doing. I hope today's post was as encouraging to you. Let me know if you found something useful here in the comments below. I'd love to hear from you.

Can y'all believe we're almost in August and the year is over halfway done? I can't. I'm excited about possibilities and goals I have set for next month coming to fruition. I hope I'm resurrecting from the burn-out I've been fighting for so long.

Next week, I'll have more word prompts, book reviews, and writing updates to share with you. Please come back and invite your creative friends to join us!

Until next time,
