Author Journey: August 5, 2022 - What Holds Me Back?

Welcome back to my scenic route! I hope you enjoy your time here and leave feeling encouraged. I'm not feeling so great today, so please forgive me for the lateness of the post. Sometimes it's necessary to take a look, a good look, at what's keeping you from meeting your goals.

Author Journey: Writing Progress

I haven't done much writing this week beyond blog posts and Discord chats. As I mentioned earlier, I'm not feeling so great today. Yesterday and today, I woke up with a nasty headache. Thankfully, pain reliever is working on those. My allergies are flaring up, too, since we've been tackling cleaning a few corners we rarely get into.

So, writing? It's kind of taken a necessary back seat for now. I'm looking forward to getting back to it, though. I'm also looking forward to finally getting the copyright registered for The Tale of Outh'n Durr. I can't really move forward with the publishing until I can pay for that.

Add to that exhaustion from constantly fighting spiritual battles and it's a recipe for "I need sleep" or "I need a vacation" or "I have a serious case of the dont-wannas". This makes it difficult to focus my thoughts on much of anything. I've determined to spend more time in actual study of my Bible and in prayer, so much so that I set alarms on my phone to remind me when to pray and what or who to pray for.

I've been playing around creating some characters for DnD, which some of you will gasp and be horrified about. I know. But it's a way I can connect with my oldest daughter. I'm also hoping to be a light to some of those in the group we got invited to join. Creating characters is such fun for me, anyway, and I'm hoping to gain some insight into some of my newer characters, too.

I checked Goodreads a few days ago and found out I'm once again behind schedule, by two books this time. So I'm going to have to kick up my reading speed. Nah! I'll probably just find a couple novellas to check out.

We also started school this week. Since it kind of snuck up on me this year, that's proven to be quite a different kind of challenge. I have everything we need to get this year completed, but the schedule has to be adjusted. If you've been following my blog for any length of time, you know how schedule changes really throw me for a loop. But it's working out. And we're starting slowly and working our way up to the full load.

So in conclusion, The Tale of Outh'n Durr is still paused for publishing. Surge is still in need of that next content edit.

Writer's Life: Kitten Update!

Yep! I finally have a kitten video for you guys. This was filmed a week or two ago, I think. But honestly, keeping track of the passing of days is not the easiest thing for me. However, this is super cute, so I hope it'll make you smile.

They really are just too cute! I've been enjoying having them around. Olly left a hole in our lives when we had to put him outside, and then later on when we lost him. I'm just so happy God has blessed us with these two little ones. (Although, if Spartacus gets as big as I expect him to, he'll be a pretty large cat.)

I'm sorry this published late, but uploading the video took a good while. Thanks for stopping by and taking time to see what's going on in this writer's life. Please come back next Wednesday when I'll have a couple more book reviews to share with you.
