Author Journey: September 10, 2021

Autumn is on the way and it looks like we might get another nice one this year. I certainly hope so. While we don't usually see such mild temperatures during the autumn months, it's still my favorite time of year. What's your favorite season?

So What's Been Going On?

I actually don't even know. Good intentions get shot down left and right. But I feel like the truly important things are actually getting nailed down -- my daughter's schoolwork, household chores, the mother/daughter club I started with a friend last year, and church work.

I have been able to download some pretty awesome fonts so I can get back to work on cover art. Outh'n's cover is giving me just as much trouble as he seems to give himself. LOL Sometimes I just want to throw up my hands and do all my covers in black and white...but that just doesn't work well for me. I'm more colorful than that. *wry grin*

I hope I'll be able to get that put together this week so I can nail down the rest of what needs to be done in order to get it published ASAP. Once the ebook cover is ready and all the ducks are in a row, I'll publish that. The physical copies may be coming out a bit later than that due to proofreading and double-checking the formatting.

Want to Know What Sites I'm Working With?

I found those fonts I mentioned on DaFont. They offer a wide range of font styles. Some of them are NOT free for all uses so be sure you double-check the details on the fonts you're interested in. They do have a ton of fonts which are free for all types of usage.  *Not an affiliate link*

I'm going to be publishing both ebooks and print copies through Draft2Digital from now on, or at least until they stop doing either. If they ever do go out of business, I might just have a breakdown. They meet every one of my needs as a hobby writer who's working with a really strict (and getting more strict) budget.

This will be the first time I publish print books through Draft2Digital, so I'm certain there will be a significant learning curve with the cover art. I hope it doesn't take too long to get it right, but I'm going to keep at it until this labor of love is done.

Think you might be interested in checking out Draft2Digital? Check them out using my affiliate link and we'll both make a little money. The great news is you get all your profits and D2D shares a small portion of their profits with me. It's certainly a win/win situation. *This link IS an affiliate link...just to be clear.* I don't usually share affiliate links because it's such a convoluted rigamarole. Not so with D2D, and so here ya go. :)

If you're interested, I create my own covers using Gimp. You can use this link to check out the open source program for yourself.  *Not an affiliate link*

I know it's not a long post. I'm actually typing this out on Wednesday. I'm going to go help my grandmother clean house after Hurricane Ida passed through. Thankfully, the house itself didn't suffer much damage. Her yard's another matter, though. Thanks for your prayers (and donations if you've helped financially through another organization) concerning the victims of Ida! I know we all appreciate it.

Before I go, I would like to remind folks tomorrow is September 11th and I'm going to take a moment of silence to remember those who sacrificed themselves to help the victims of that terrible tragedy, as well as the families of those whose lives were snuffed out needlessly. There's so much I could say on this matter and how angry I am about the current situation in the Middle East. But my opinion hardly matters to the powers that be. Just know that I will be praying and remembering. I will not forget that day.

Until next time...
